On December 9th, 2024, the 2024 “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Contest for College Students concluded successfully. Teachers of the School of Languages and Cultures (School of International Communication and Exchange) organized and guided our students to win four national bronze awards in the competitions.
Starting from September this year, teachers from the School of Languages and Cultures (School of International Communication and Exchange) of our university prepared and organized the online and offline preliminary contests at our university level for various categories including Comprehensive Ability, Speech, Written Translation, and Interpreting. Our students actively participated in the events. After intense competition, a total of 11 contestants successfully advanced to the Shanghai finals of each category, and our students won a total of 2 gold, 3 silver, and 6 bronze medals in the city-level competitions. Ultimately, four contestants stood out and qualified for the national contest, achieving remarkable results with 4 bronze medals in the finals.
The 2024 national contest witnessed increased participation, with over 1,300 universities and colleges involved and covering 11 languages, including English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Arabian, Japanese, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, and Chinese as a second language for foreign learners. Attracting nearly 700,000 college students nationwide, the contest provides a vibrant platform for students in China to showcase their linguistic prowess and international communication skills.
